Statement of Faith
1. The Holy Bible
is our authority, and we are evangelical in doctrine.
2. God
is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three personalities: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three (the Trinity) are co-equal and are one God. (Genesis 1:1, 26-27; Matthew 28:19).
3. Jesus Christ
is the Son of God, born of a virgin, and an equal member of the Trinity (John 1:1-5). Jesus led a sinless life, and He died to take away the sins of the world. He rose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven and will return again someday to judge the living and the dead.
4. Salvation
is God's free gift to us, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith, we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment a person receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith. To be eternally together with God in heaven is eternal life; heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence.
5. Water Baptism
is the outward symbol of an inner, spiritual work that has occured in a believer's life. This outward symbol represents a person's death to their old life and a rising to new life in Christ. We are baptized in water to follow the example of our Lord Jesus Christ and because He has instructed us to do so as well.
6. Baptism in the Holy Spirit
is an experience which initiates a decisively new awareness of the all powerful presence of God working in one's life and usually involves one or more spiritual gifts. This is a different experience from water baptism and is normal and expected of a Christian since God promised it to us.
Who We Are
We are a people of diverse religious backgrounds and ethnic origins who have found a common denominator in our relationship with Jesus Christ. We are committed to the Bible as our authority and are evangelical in doctrine.
